General Questions
Do I need to be in a crisis to start therapy?
Not at all. While therapy is wonderful for navigating acute crises, it is equally valuable for personal growth, improving relationships, preventing burnout, or simply having a dedicated, confidential space to process life transitions.
Do you offer virtual (telehealth) sessions?
Yes. I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant video sessions to clients residing anywhere within the state of California.
Insurance & Payments
Do you accept health insurance?
Yes, I am an in-network provider with many insurance. Please check ‘Rate’ section to explore your insurance.
If I am in-network with your plan, we will submit claims directly to your insurance company. Depending on your specific policy, you may only be responsible for a copay, coinsurance, or meeting your deductible at the time of your session.
What if you are out-of-network with my insurance?
If I am not in-network with your insurance plan, you can pay for sessions out-of-pocket, and I can provide you with a monthly itemized receipt known as a Superbill. You can submit this Superbill directly to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement, depending on your plan’s benefits.
Do you accept health insurance?
Under the No Surprises Act, healthcare providers are required to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency therapy services prior to starting treatment.
Insurance Tip
I recommend calling the member services number on the back of your insurance card prior to our first session to verify your coverage (ask about your copay, deductible, and mental health benefits).
What to Expect & Logistics
What happens during the first session?
Our first appointment (the intake session) is a chance for us to get to know each other. We will discuss your background, what brings you to therapy, your therapy goals, and any questions you have about the process. It’s also an opportunity to see if we feel like a good therapeutic fit.
How long and how frequent are sessions?
Standard individual and couples therapy sessions are 50 minutes long. Most clients meet with me on a weekly basis at the start of therapy to build momentum and establish a strong foundation. As you make progress toward your goals, we may transition to bi-weekly sessions.
What is your cancellation policy?
I request at least 24 hours’ notice for any cancellations or rescheduled appointments. Because your session time is reserved exclusively for you, late cancellations or missed sessions (without 24 hours’ notice) will incur a standard cancellation fee. Please note: Insurance companies do not reimburse for missed session fees.
